Goa has 101 km of coastline and around 30 named beaches. Not all are equal. This guide is honest about which ones are worth your time.
India's most visited beaches — wall-to-wall sun loungers, vendors, and package tourists in peak season. The water is often murky. If you want loud beach shacks and maximum energy, this is your spot. If you want a beach, look elsewhere.
Rocky red cliffs, old fort ruins, and the cove feel of Ozran make these North Goa's best beaches. Good clifftop cafes. Chapora Fort above Vagator has some of Goa's best views.
Morjim is an Olive Ridley turtle nesting beach. Ashwem has excellent beach restaurants (Sublime, La Plage) and a calm crowd. Mandrem next door is even quieter.
A perfect crescent bay — genuinely beautiful. More organized than North Goa, cleaner, calmer. Kayaking to the island at the southern end is excellent. Goa's best complete beach experience.
Wide, long, barely developed, turtle nesting site, genuinely peaceful. No water sports touts, no DJ music. Best for couples wanting to actually relax. Boutique resorts behind the beach are some of Goa's best.
No road access — by boat from Palolem (20 min) or steep jungle trek. Small crescent bay with clear water, almost no one there, visible coral from the beach. The best beach most tourists never see. Go early morning.
November to February is peak. October and March are sweet spots — good weather, lower prices, fewer tourists. Avoid December 25-January 5 unless booked 6 months ahead.
